Yggsgard was introduced as the result of the cosmic event known as the Timestream Entanglement. It is a fusion of Asgard and Yggdrasil, the World Tree that connects all Ten Realms.
Following the fusion, Loki used his manipulative abilities to seize control of this realm. It's implied that Loki's rise to power in Yggsgard had significant implications for the balance of power across the Ten Realms.
