What to Expect[]
As someone who’s spent years navigating the ups and downs of competitive gaming, I can appreciate the growing pains Marvel Rivals is going through right now. From performance issues to exciting new content on the horizon, there’s a lot happening. In this post, we’ll break down the key issues being addressed, highlight some intriguing bugs, and dive into the new skins coming soon.
Game Issues and Fixes[]
Performance Problems with Unreal Engine 5[]
One of the biggest challenges facing Marvel Rivals is compatibility issues with UE5. Players have reported frequent crashes on both PC and consoles, leaving many unable to enjoy the game they’ve invested in.
Community Manager James shared an update:
“The current patch focuses on map and hero issues. We’re investigating additional concerns and will resolve them ASAP. Thank you for your patience.”
While the developers are actively working on a solution, there’s currently no workaround. A hotfix is expected soon, so here’s hoping this gets resolved quickly for the sake of stability.
Stats Bug[]
A bug affecting player stats has also been frustrating the community. Stats aren’t updating correctly—or worse, they’re resetting entirely. For those of us who enjoy tracking progress (whether it’s SR in Overwatch or in-game metrics here), this can be particularly annoying.
James addressed this issue:
“We’re fixing this as we speak. A patch addressing this issue is on its way.”
Disconnection Bug[]
Another issue affecting Marvel Rivals is a persistent disconnection bug. Players are being booted mid-game, which is especially infuriating in ranked matches, as it often results in temporary bans.
James confirmed the developers are addressing this as well:
“We’re trying to patch everything and will provide updates soon.”
Even practice lobbies aren’t immune to this bug, so it’s reassuring to know a fix is in the works.
Hitbox Issues[]
Here’s a gameplay bug that’ll feel familiar to anyone who’s ever played a hero shooter: hitbox inconsistencies. In Marvel Rivals, aiming at the right side of an enemy’s head reliably triggers critical hits, while shots to the left side frequently miss or fail to register as critical.
Pro Tip:[]
Adjust your aim slightly to the right for consistent crits. It’s not ideal, but it’s a useful workaround until the devs resolve the issue.
A Strange Captain America Glitch[]
Among the more unusual bugs, a player reported that Captain America morphed into Hela during an emote. The result? A bizarre hybrid of the two characters. It’s like stumbling across a funny visual glitch in any competitive game—it’s not game-breaking, but it’s certainly worth a laugh.
Upcoming Content[]
New Skins for Thor and Star-Lord[]
On the brighter side, Marvel Rivals is releasing two stunning new skins today December 13th:
- Thor: Love and Thunder
- Star-Lord: Master of the Sun
Release Times:[]
- 7:00 AM UTC
- 11:00 PM PST (Dec 12th)
- 2:00 AM EST
- 4:00 PM JST
The skins also include unique animations, and early previews look fantastic. Personally, the Thor skin is my favorite of the two. What do you think—are these a must-have or an easy pass?
Moon Knight Escape Trick[]
For all the Moon Knight players out there, here’s a movement trick worth mastering:
- Instead of grappling to walls or buildings, aim at the ground.
- This launches you upward, letting you glide away safely.
It’s a small detail, but one that can save you in a pinch—think of it like optimizing Genji’s mobility in Overwatch.
Marvel Rivals is tackling some big challenges right now, but fixes are on the way, and the developers seem committed to improving the game. Between performance issues, stats bugs, and disconnection problems, it’s clear there’s work to do. But with new content like the Thor and Star-Lord skins on the horizon, there’s plenty to be excited about.
As someone who’s experienced the growing pains of other competitive games, I’m optimistic that Marvel Rivals will bounce back stronger. What are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments, and stay tuned for more updates!
