In the Ultimate Universe, Hela is the ruler of Valhalla, the Asgardian afterlife. When Thor died and became a captive of her realm, he made a bargain with Hela where she would release him if he fathered a child with her. After fulfilling the request, the God of Thunder demanded to be released, but Hela informed him that another must die to take his place. An exchange eventually occurred when Thor's beloved Barbara Norriss fell in battle at the hands of Loki. Thor returned to Earth and Barbara Norriss was transformed into Valhalla's Valkyrie.
