Traits are in-game attributes that recognizes a Hero's designation in lore, events, and challenges. This can range from team affiliations to specific hero characteristics or species.

As a disclaimer, several characters have been part of other teams in various iterations, whether in comics, films, & other spin-offs. This classification system is only limited to Marvel Rivals and can be subject to change for future updates.

Classifications

TRIVIA

  • The original Avengers lineup in Rivals is similar to that in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • In the comics:
    • The heroes who are regular members in the rotating roster include Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther.
    • The Winter Soldier as Captain America became active in both the Avengers and New Avengers teams. And he also became a part of Captain Marvel's strikeforce, the War Avengers, with the use of his former idenity.
    • Namor previously joined the main team during his exile from Atlantis, up until his supposed death.
    • OFFSHOOTS:
      • Squirrel Girl was a member of the U.S.Avengers and A.I.M.'s New Avengers, whose teams were both led by the mutant Sunspot.
      • Jeff the Land Shark is unaffiliated, but is recognized as an Avenger by proxy in-game due to his association with Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) and Gwenpool from the West Coast Avengers.


TRIVIA

  • In Rivals, the X-Men is structured similar to their Krakoan era, with Magneto recognized as the current leader.
  • This version of Psylocke (Sai) was never part of the X-Men or any of its counterparts in the comics. However, two of her costumes (Vengeance and Retro X-Uniform) references Earth-616's Betsy Braddock, who was formerly known as Psylocke in the team's older iterations.


TRIVIA

  • Namor is the only playable mutant who is not listed as an X-Men in-game, despite joining the team on several occasions in the comics.

  • Eddie Brock was never a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, another symbiote host by the name of Flash Thompson joined the team in the comics. For reference:
    • The Space Knight costume takes direct inspiration from Flash's Venom.
    • Lingering Imprint, although helmed by Eddie, had the symbiote imprint the then-deceased Flash's consciousness unto itself (albeit for a short period of time).
  • Despite not being classified in the game, other playable Heroes who at some point joined the Guardians include Iron Man and The Thing.


TRIVIA

  • The Fantastic Four has been the most consistent team that stayed true to its original lineup. However, certain playable heroes has had their brief tenures in the roster which include: Spider-Man, Black Panther, & Storm.

  • Spider-Man and Peni Parker are also seen as members of the Web-Warriors, alongside Spider-Zero, in one of the game's gallery cards. Though, it is currently not known if Venom is also part of this lineup.


TRIVIA

  • In the Cerebro Database event, Black Widow (despite ONLY being labeled as an Avenger in-game) aligns herself as part of the Marvel Knights, reflecting her affiliation with the team in the comics.
  • Cloak (Tyrone Johnson) has NOT joined the team himself in the source material, but is still listed as one of the Marvel Knights since he and Dagger (Tandy Bowen) are treated as a single swappable character in Rivals.


Gods of Asgard

TRIVIA

  • In Rivals lore, these three are suspected to share a sibling relationship akin to their counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • Loki is not classified as a Villain in-game, despite being the first iconic Avengers villain in the comics.


Agents of Atlas

TRIVIA

  • Prior to taking up the mantle of Iron Fist, Lin Lie joins the Agents of Atlas as Sword Master during the War of the Realms.


Immortal Weapon

TRIVIA

  • The Immortal Weapons were heralded as champions of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven. And although the current successor of the Iron Fist title is Lin Lie, comics centered around this line of heroes had Danny Rand at the helm of its stories.


TRIVIA

  • Aside from Hela, every Villain classified has had their stint as anti-heroes, anti-villains, or superheroes, whether in their past or current iterations.
