This version of Reed Richards is from the original Ultimate Universe, where Mister Fantastic descended into madness, turning him into the villainous Maker.
In an accident caused by his colleague Victor Van Damme, Richards was altered by the N-Zone alongside Sue, Johnny, Grimm, and Victor himself, causing the former quartet to become the Fantastic Four and the latter to become their archnemesis Doctor Doom. However, as Reed was proposing to Sue, the latter was almost killed when the Ultimatum Wave struck, having Reed then leave Sue in a near-death state. After she had woken up with her would-be fiancée nowhere to be found, Sue rejected Reed's proposal, disbanding the Fantastic Four.
Reed's corrupted nature continues once he moves back in with his abusive father. Embracing his worst instincts, he kills his entire family, becoming "more Doctor Doom than Doctor Doom was" in his quest to perfect the world. When Sue found out and attempted to kill Reed, he viciously assaulted her, having Johnny burn and mutilate Reed's face in retaliation.
Reed, now known as the Maker, created a helmet that covered the majority of his face. He then founded the Children of Tomorrow and evolved both them and himself over the course of a thousand years. Together, they ventured to conquer the world and destroy Asgard, though they were eventually stopped by the heroes of Earth-1610, with Sue ironically defeating her former lover in a sick twist of fate.
