Guardians of the Galaxy (2015) #1
PETER QUILL (Earth-616)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis | Penciller: Valerio Schiti | Cover Artist: Arthur Adams • Dave Stewart

Following the restoration of reality, Peter ascends to the throne of Spartax, with Rocket taking over leadership of the Guardians while Kitty Pryde (under the alias Star-Lady) and the Thing (following the disbanding of the Fantastic Four while the Richards' family worked to restore the multiverse) join the team. Unfortunately, Quill's overwhelming schedule, inexperience in politics, and desire to satisfy everyone made him more distant.
Peter's still fiancée Kitty also became more indifferent and bitter with their relationship, prompting Kitty to leave him. Despite having lost his close friends, Peter begrudgingly remained as king and tried to help as many citizens as best as he could. Eight months after the Guardians left, they decided to come back to Spartax to examine an artifact they stole from the Chitauri. While they were there, a female accuser named Hala invaded and started destroying the planet in retaliation for Quill's supposed participation in the destruction of the Kree home planet.
The female accuser defeated the Guardians and captured Peter, taking him hostage and promising the destruction not only of Spartax but Earth as well. He was rescued by the Guardians, and together they managed to come back and defeat Hala.
However, not much later, Yotat the Destroyer appeared and contributed to further damaging Spartax. The Guardians defeated him, but plenty of damage was done, and the people no longer trusted Quill. His delegates took advantage of this destruction and ousted him from power, claiming he should answer for all the carnage caused on his watch. Peter escaped with Kitty and rejoined the Guardians, once again as a wanted man.
