Origins
X-Men Annual (1970) #9
ORORO MUNROE (Earth-616)
Writer: Chris Claremont | Penciller: Arthur Adams
In an accident, Henry Gyrich used a rifle created by the mutant machinist Forge which neutralizes Storm's mutant abilities. Forge then took it upon himself to help Ororo recover. Though eventually, she left the X-Men and went home to Africa, accepting the fact that she no longer had her powers.
Later, she agreed to go on a vacation with Professor Xavier's new team, the New Mutants, where the group was subsequently captured by the Trickster God, Loki. Having seen her combat armies of demons, Loki wanted to utilize Storm in one of his plots to discredit his brother Thor, by giving her a hammer called Stormcaster, which would make her the new Goddess of Thunder and restore her abilities. However, with the help of the New Mutants and X-Men, Storm was able to turn down Loki's intentions, foiling his scheme.
