Mode Description
Competitive is the Ranked mode in Marvel Rivals. It was introduced shortly after the game's release in Season 0, giving players the option to improve their skills by competing against others and focusing on higher-stakes competition. This ranked system, like other games, needs you to earn it and advance through the tiers according to your performance.
Gameplay[]
Every match win earns you rank points, and winning streaks and strong individual performance, particularly as the team's MVP, will help you optimize your rank point gains. On the contrary, losing matches results in a loss of rank points. Every 100 points earned gets you promoted to the next division above, while losing too many points can result in a rank relegation. These can be avoided with the Chrono Shield system, but they only last so long before they need to be recharged. The Chrono Shields prevent you from getting demoted; however, once used, you must recharge it. The higher your level, the more losses you will need to accumulate before regaining your demotion shield.
The Hero Ban system in Competitive mode.
As you climb the ranks and reach at least Diamond III, you will be introduced to the Hero Ban system. Both teams are given the choice of banning two heroes, preventing the enemy teams from picking the chosen heroes from the roster.
Furthermore, at the start of each new Season, all players are demoted six divisions, so you must work your way back up the ranks to earn new rewards. Each rank up to Eternity consists of three tiers. Each tier takes 100 ranking points to advance (300 points for a full rank leap).
